Academic Assistance
Homework Help Center

Time: Tuesdays, 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.; Thursdays, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (During the School Year)

The Homework Help Center is open during the school year, and offers help with homework at no charge to students in grades 1-6, with a parent's registration. Call 817.514.5866 for more information.

Volunteers Needed


Volunteers aged 16 to adult, especial bilingual in English/Spanish, English/Vietnamese, or English/Laotian, are needed for the Homework Help Center. If you are interested in volunteering, please call the Volunteer Coordinator at 817.514.5863, or stop by the Library. You can make a difference!


Phoebe, the Reading Therapy Dog


Time: Thursdays, 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Year-round)

Phoebe and her trainer, Cheryl Woodward, will join us every Thursday for a special reading time.  Children can select a book and read to Phoebe for 10 to 15 minutes.  She loves children and all kinds of stories!  If you are interested in a reading time, please call the Youth Services Desk, 817.514.5866. We will gladly schedule you a time.  


Story Times

Children's Story Time


Time: Tuesdays and Wednesdays (Year-round)

Toddler (ages 18-36 months) Story Time: 10:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
Preschoolers (ages 3-6 years) Story Time: 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.


Join the Watauga Public Library for our famous Story Time, with fun stories, silly songs, and bubbles! Story Time builds children's pre-literacy skills and encourages a lifelong love of reading.

Bilingual Story Time 


Time: First Thursday of the Month, 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (September through May)

Join the Watauga Public Library and Behavioral Innovations for a modified story time in the Young Adult Area. This program provides the chance for children with special needs to enjoy a group story time. Behavioral Innovations will send an ABA Therapist who will bring a book and various sensory items to share with your children during the story. 

Story Time with Behavioral Innovations


Time: First and Third Friday of the Month, 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (September through May)

Join us for a very special Story Time for children ages 6 to 10. Mrs. Paola Baucom will share stories with us in Spanish and English from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. through May, on the first Thursday. Non-Spanish speakers can use the program to help them learn Spanish in a fun way. The program will also help Spanish speakers connect with their heritage. 



Clubs
WizArt Club 


Time: Third Friday of the Month, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.


The WizArt Club is a volunteer group of students from the Art Wheel Studio located in Keller, TX. They will offer free art classes at the Watauga Public Library the third Friday of each month (September through May) to children 5 to 12 years of age. Supplies are provided for each project. Registration is required. Registration begins the first of each month, at the Youth Desk or by
calling 817.514.5866. Space is limited to 25 students per class.
 

Pokemon League


Time: Mondays, 6:00 p.m. to 7:50 p.m.


Bring a starter pack of Pokemon cards and join Pokemon enthusiasts at the Library. Volunteers are able to help beginners.

Time: Wednesdays, 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Learn the age-old game of strategy and patience. For ages 18 and under. Teen volunteers are available to help beginners.
