Pat Shelbourne and his wife Ollie moved to Watauga in 2009. In June 2009, he was appointed to serve on the Watauga Planning and Zoning Commission and the Watauga Charter Review Commission. He attended the 2010 Watauga Citizens Police Academy, graduating on November 4, 2010. Pat ran for Place 6, Watauga City Council, and was elected in a special election on November 2, 2010. He was re-elected in the May 2012, 2014 and 2016 Election.
Pat previously served on the Stephenville City Council from May 2007 until May 2009. He is a retired public school business official in Texas public schools, and is a retired Certified Public Accountant. His wife Ollie retired as a third-grade teacher in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford schools. “Although I was a new resident in Watauga, I immediately got involved in the City, volunteering for Commission posts, learning more about the City by visiting the various departments, speaking with Department Heads and employees, and attending the Watauga Citizens Police Academy. I am impressed with the friendliness of the citizens, and the competent, capable way the City is run. Big challenges face the City in the coming years, but the City has the financial soundness and infrastructure to face these challenges going forward. I hope to serve the City in my present position by making sound, rational decisions on matters brought to the City Council, and to always keep the health, safety and general welfare of the citizens foremost in my decision making. Thank you for the opportunity to serve Watauga.”012
