A permit is required per section 22-280 of the City Code of Ordinances to have a garage sale.
The permit is $5.00 and includes one sign which must be posted at the site of the sale. An additional four signs are allowed to be posted on the corners of the street with the signatures of the property owner. Each additional sign is $2.00 and must be the approved sign obtained at the City. Third party signs are not allowed.
Four (4) sales are allowed per year, with the duration of the sale not to exceed three (3) consecutive days. Permits must be obtained at least 12 hours in advance of the sale.
If the garage sale is canceled due to weather or some other emergency, you can return your permit to the Public Works Department within seven (7) working days from the date of the sale in order to reschedule. This only applies if the sale does not occur at all.
Any person failing to comply with the City Code of Ordinances may be subject to a penalty of up to $500.00 per violation, per day.
